Crooks N Castles Crews

I've been searching for a new heavy crew neck this season, and because most of them have been cut to fit men (raglan sleeves so they're bulky at the top) it's been quite a hard find. For the boys I would recommend the crews from AG, the fabric in the body has been cut against the grain rather than with the grain so if it shrinks in the wash it will shrink in rather than up. No one likes a short crew. Genius AG, I'll have to steal that technique.
Wu Wear also has crews this out season but their designs are often the same each year.

Crooks and Castles are an American skate label that are known for their killer prints and wicked style. The cut of their crews are perfect for guys and girls, with their set in sleeves and panelled ribbing down the sides making them less bulky, especially around the shoulders.

I’m stoked with my find (purchased the black crew) and thought I’d save other girls out there the hassle of looking.

Tuck it up Don't Fold it Over: creeping cuffs

Look suave in trousers, which are making a huge come back in the form of high-water pants. The past few years it’s been the trend to cuff or fold up the bottom of jeans; on trousers, this doesn’t look so sharp.
Try hemming the trousers so that they fold under rather than having a cuff; below 3 quarter length and above the point where they could have just shrunk in the wash.

Paul Rubens (aka Pee-wee Herman) could not have imagined that his comedic dress sense would become such a hit.
Socks or no socks.

For the Girls: Pencil skirts and tailored trousers

What I'm going to be making all season. Tailored trousers (with a mid rather than high waist and coupled with a loose shirt) and pencil skirts, great in both bold and muted colours.

His & Hers Air Yeezys II

I never thought I would be getting advice about fresh kicks from Kim Kardashian. But in the bus on the way to work yesterday morning I saw that Kayne West retweeted Kim’s instagram of the pair wearing the new his and her Nike Air Yeezys II.
Just released this week and fresh as hell, they are the latest collaboration between Nike and Kanye West (Yeezy).
Fit was essential with the slimmer than the original design being achieved by tailoring it to Kanye West’s foot. The collar was lowered to allow for greater movement and the moulded rear is sculpted with a reptilian inspired spike.
With many references to ancient civilizations in the design, Kanye can’t seem to pick just one era. A loop strap with hieroglyphics spelling out ‘YZY,’ each lace aglet being an obelisk shape and the leather lace toggle carrying the Roman numeral ‘II;’ and the outsole glows in the dark. “God damn Yeezy How I hit em with the new style."

Kanye West, quite possibly the first rapper to ever use the word "sarcophagus" in a rhyme (yes this is a reason why you should buy his shoes).

'So Science', An Indepth Look: sneans

I had to think about how I would approach talking about something so unfashionable on a blog all about the fashionable, easy, it's 'So Science'.

Ailment: Sneans
Sneans, the common name for the sneaker jean combination (or according to Urban Dictionary, also the name for 'a female most commonly obsessed with horses', weird), and the topic of today's blog post.

The Sneaky Sneaner
Case study: Usually a poor judgement call from the otherwise fashionable. With a wicked case of sneaky sneans my friend Brad Pogson has moved beyond sneans and gone with the even more offensive snuits (suit and sneakers). Caught red footed walking from work to the bus; nothing excuses his huge oversight. Once caught feelings of regret or embarrassment usually follow.
Solution: Why not try the Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede “Game Royal”. Nike Blazer has had a banner year in 2012, and these are due to drop in July. No more trying to hide one foot behind the other sneaky sneaner Brad.

aka. 'Game Royal'

The Repeat Sneaner
Case Study: Unlike the sneaky sneaner the repeat sneaner has either no clue or just doesn't give a fuck. If untreated can lead to sever social rejection and taunting. Not only does this group include another friend (Johanna), but also half the people at my work.
Solution: Asics most iconic OG runners – the Gel Saga.

Or why not the newly released Nike Air Safari runner, and a matching take on the Air Trainer. Still as outrageous as the day Tinker Hatfield designed it, the Safari was inspired by a trip to a New York furniture store.

No excuses.

For the Girls: Nike Air

Nike's revolutionary Air-Sole unit made its way into Nike footwear in the late '70s. In 1987, the Nike Air Max debuted with visible air in its heel, allowing sneaker heads more than just the feel of Air-Sole comfort.

More from Acapulco Gold

Bit slack with posts as of late, I blame season two of Game of Thrones.
So it's obvious that AG is my new favourite label at the moment, and just in case you still need convincing that you need to get their threads, here's some more evidence.

Thick Wool Jumpers

For winter swag and toasty warmness all in one this season, you need a chunky knit. They are popping up in all of the men's collections, with Rag and Bone Man and Huffer playing with both textures and layering but keeping the colours natural. For a more feminine look, go for a bold colour. Just keep away from the David Bane jumper and you can't go wrong.

Huffer Winter 2012 drop

This season Huffer has bought on board designer Amy McFarlane from Lonely Hearts, what a difference a bit of new blood can make. The past few years (in my opinion) the label has had its ups and downs with the comings and goings of designers. But this season they've got it on lock; fresh while still keeping to the Huffer aesthetic. You'll see a lot of great stables and really flattering modern cuts; digging the wide angular pockets on the men's pants, jackets and grey high crew neck sweats.
The chick chinos which are possibly the most comfortable pair of pants I have ever owned are a nice change from denim. Keep it gangs' boys and girls.

Ghostface Killah (Wu Tang Clan)

With a career spanning 20 years and 16 album releases to-date, Ghostface Killah, the man of many aliases (Tony Starks, Ironman and Pretty Toney), is dropping some beats at the Powerstation on the 7th of June. A founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan and a successful rapper in his own right.
Tighten up that doo rag and get there. I would but I'll be at Lady Gaga (guilty pleasure and yes I will be dressing up).

Huffer Puffer

I had one of these in my intermediate days and they were the coolest thing. I probably won't be busting that one out again anytime soon, but I can't say no to the new dead meat classic down vest.

Beanies from AG Winter 2012

Nothing says winter like a fresh as hell beanie, and no matter what people say, you can never have too many. Get your dirty mitts on Acapulco Gold's dope range emblazoned with their Angry 'Lo bear mascot.
Or the 'Para' 'Dise' beanies from the AG winter 2012 collection. Although, I would suggest making sure a mate doesn't wear the matching half; that would look just plain stupid.

Hell, why not even get crafty and try knit your own.

Ties: regimental stripes

Found this cool little piece of info about regimental stripe on ties in the Acapulco Gold campaign.

Source: AG winter 2012 campaign

AG have taken the print from the Jordan III and put it on a tie, way to make office wear street guys!
The crackle elephant print from the shoes was used along with regimental stripes to make the best looking ties that you (if you can get away with it at work) could even match back to your IIIs.

Hélas: Snap Backs

I generally prefer American labels but European Skate sensation Lucas Puig's cap company Hélas is making it huge internationally with their nicely simple 5 panel caps, and I think their pretty cool. Using a variety of fabrics and comfortable lining it's real quality stuff.

The new Hélas five panel are still a snap back but they have a track fastening system which is a modern adaption to an old favourite. There available exclusively from Loaded, High Street and Broadway.

Wu-Tang Clan

On Saturday night I had one of those moments where you look back and wish you had gotten a picture. Imagine a guy who wouldn’t look out of place in the back streets of Brooklyn New York, shooting hoops with his hommies and just generally killing it. He was wearing a black Wu Wear heavy weight crew neck sweat with the 'Cream Team' print. If you’d seen how bad-ass he looked you’d all have to go out and buy one. It reminded me of how sick Wu Wear is and that I really should post about it.
The Wu-Tang Clan (pronounced wu:taen) is a highly influential hip hop collective from Staten Island, New York that consists of a group of rappers that chop and change (Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Ol' Dirty Bastard and others by equally cool names).

The move from music to clothing resulted in Wu Wear, which at first was not particularly high quality. But in 1999, Nike released a Wu-Tang Clan themed dunk hi. Not many of the shoes were made and they were really popular, the resell prices now can be as much as $7,500.
I got onto this brand from a sneaker store in Australia; the Wu Wear 'Supreme Clientele' singlet is perfect dancing attire.
In 2007 and 2008 Wu Tang and the Alife NYC clothing group collaborated and came out with custom sneakers and t-shirts. The collection was named "A Wu-Tang Life".
This got me researching Alife which I don't know much about, they have possibly the hardest website to navigate, but I found a few items that seemed like it could be worth a second look some time.
Wu-Tang seems to be highly sort after for collaborations at the moment so keep an eye out.
